It is surprising how some people strongly believe that they deserve a lot more than what has been offered to them in life. When one says, "why am I facing all these sorrows and sufferings, after all I deserve a better life for the kind of person I'm", I respond with a smile. I start thinking if it is their ignorance or greediness that makes them feel that way.
Everyone deserves something. True. I always wonder how one decides what they deserve when the scale of measurement is with someone else. Someone other than themselves.
Let me tell you some true stories. I used to get disappointed when a dog walks back silently after eating what I had thrown at it. I wondered how can a dog walk without even slipping a look of gratitude at me. These things have happened. When I throw them biscuits, they eat them as though I'm supposed to be giving them biscuits and then they walk away showing their back without even looking at me for a second. I think inside, "how rude! how can they be not have any gratitude towards someone voluntarily feeds them". The question still stay in my mind. But I think I may have answer to it now. How can I say that whatever I have offered them might have satisfied their hunger or fulfilled their taste ? May be they aren't still satisfied, so their chase continues which gives them no time to show gratitude towards anyone in the way.
When someone thinks they deserve something better, I'm sure they say so because of the confidence they gained by having done something or having been doing something. It may be great in their scale but to claim what they think as deserved, it may not have been good enough. While it may sound like ignorance, sometimes the scale that they have is so small that even the ant has to look down to see the scale's top edge. Most of such times, I pity them for their greediness.
If you ask me to rationalize, I may not be able to but I'm a strong believer in 'do good to receive good'. More over, I also believe that when you do good, what you get would be good. In one way or the other, you get what you deserve. If you think what you receive is inferior to what you deserve, seems like what you thought as good enough wasn't good enough after all.
After all, you can't receive blessings you don't deserve and one can't stop you from receiving the blessing you genuinely very well deserve.
