Some of my friends, non-Christians, used to wish me on Good Friday saying, "Happy Good Friday". I smile at their innocence, rather ignorance, and offer my thanks as an acceptance for their consideration. Then I go on explaining them why it isn't a happy day after all.
In short, Good Friday is the day when Jesus Christ was crucified to die. It is a death memorial of Jesus Christ. When I explain in simple terms, my friends used to ask me, "then why is it called the Good Friday..?". As their question sounds valid, there is indeed an answer. Jesus Christ died for good cause.. for the goodness of mankind. Hence it is called Good Friday. Now perhaps a question may arise as why not happiness be wished on that day for the day showered with goodness to the mankind, of course at the cost of the death of God's son.
Well, irrespective of the goodness we receive, it will be inhuman to celebrate a sacrifice, isn't it ?
